LAKE OSWEGO, OR: FAMILY ART CLASSES ON SUNDAYS

Sadbh, age 6, Zagreb, Croatia, August 2010.

Artist Holidays art classes will be offering a special drop-in art class for children, ages 4 and up, and/or their parents, on Sundays, from 12:30-2 p.m., in Lake Oswego, Oregon.  This week, on Feb. 26, we’ll be doing mixed media cityscapes. Parents, you can drop the kids off, or join in!

We’ll practice a combination of realistic drawing and painting skills and mixed-media art projects with artist Leah Kohlenberg, who has traveled the world and taught family art in several countries.

What is family art, and why is it important? Adults and children make fantastic classmates. The adults show children that art is important, and demonstrate how to work independently and with discipline by modeling in the class. Perhaps more importantly, the children teach adults not to be afraid of art, the creative process, and not knowing how to do something! Together, it’s a potent combination, with much learning and enjoyment.

Register by e-mailing leah.kohlenberg@gmail.com, or calling at 347 251 1984.  Generously hosted by the Harmon Family in their Lake Oswego home, please e-mail for directions.

Fee: $15 per single participant/$10 for two (from the same family, ask about the family discount for 2-5 people), including all supplies and a healthy snack. If ten or more participants sign up, price goes down to $10 per participant.
