Mothers’ Day reminds us not only to be better mothers, or appreciate our mothers. We must also remember to mother our own intuition, or divine feminine, which is a key part of our creativity, whether we are male or female.

At Artist Holidays, we honor the mother in all of us by offering you a combination class sure to feed both the creative and physical appetite: learn to draw portraits and eat delicious crepes. As a mothers day gift to yourself and your child, please join us the day before Mother’s Day, Saturday, May 7, at the delicious Mago Creperie on 464 Grand Street (between Fulton and Lefferts Place) with one or more children for a portrait drawing workshop and crepe eating party!

(Don’t feel left out, dads, we’ll be doing a father-child portrait and crepe eating special class the Saturday before father’s day, too).

Each participant, both mother and child, will bring a printed photograph of their mother, or some other important female figure. World traveled artist and teacher Leah Kohlenberg will offer portrait drawing basics, and then help you create a finished product. You’ll also get a crepe plate and drink of your choice.

All experience levels are welcome, from beginners to professional artists. The emphasis here is not on expertise, but on spending time with your mother and honoring her. Both children and parents will draw!

This class offers you everything: a pre-Mother’s Day outing and quality time with your children. You’ll be supporting local business and learning something new, as well as honoring your mother and nurturing you and your child’s creative selves.
